Genevieve Gallegos, 87, of Albuquerque, New Mexico formerly of Villanueva, New Mexico passed away on April 3, 2004 after a lengthy illness. She was born on January 2, 1917 in Villanueva, and was the daughter of the late Alberto Aragon and Vidal Salinas. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Juanita Garcia; and half sister, Annie Jaramillo; half brother, Estanislado Aragon, Feliciano Jaramillo; nephew, Horacio Garcia; and niece, Bertha Candelaria. She is survived by her husband, Jose T. Gallegos; her son, Gil Gallegos and wife, Rita of Villanueva; daughter, Mary Ann Tomlinson and husband, Robert of Manhattan Beach, CA; daughter, Antoinette Almaguer and husband, Frank of Vienna, VA; grandchildren, Guillermo Gallegos and wife, Julie of Grand Prairie, TX, Reina Gomez and husband, Jaime of Tucson, AZ, Lisa Graham and husband, Will of Albuquerque, Gilda Martinez and husband, Alvin of Pecos/ Santa Fe, Joseph Tomlinson and wife, Christine of Napa, CA, Philip Tomlinson of Manhattan Beach, CA, Daniel Almaguer and fiancee, Jane Gautier of Brooklyn, NY, Nina Talamantes and husband, Llanco of Sterling, VA. She is also survived by a brother- in - law, Eutemio Rivera of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Gabrielle and Rebecca Gallegos, Diego, Marcos and Elena Gomez, Marina and Xavier Graham, Francisco and Jade Martinez, Aidan Tomlinson, Maya and Phoenix Talamantes also survive her. Genevieve was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of the association of Our Lady of Victory. She was devoted to St. Anthony of Padua and St. Jude Thaddeus. Growing up in Villanueva, NM she was active in the Legion of Mary and the Ladies Sodality. She coached girls in CYO. She loved reading but was an outdoor person, who in her youth loved horseback riding. She worked outside the home after World War II and continued off an on until her retirement. She loved working with the public. In her later years, she still loved reading and enjoyed pari-mutual racing. She was an independent, spirited woman who made friends wherever she went. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service in Villanueva will be announced at a later date.
