Obituary for WATSON

Nettie Watson born to Elvy and Martha Proctor in Cedarvale, New Mexico on October 31, 1934 and a resident of Peralta, New Mexico joined our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 30, 2004. Nettie was a member of the Valley Church of Christ in Los Lunas. She loved to bowl and was a member of two bowling leagues in Bosque Farms for many years. She took an active role in the family construction business from painting to bookkeeping and she never told her husband Don no when it came to any job concerning the business. She owned and operated Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Shop in Los Lunas for many years where her grandchildren got their first job experience working with their grandmother in the Ice Cream Shop. She loved working on ceramics with her sister and was a great seamstress making her kids clothes when they were young. Nettie loved to go fishing with her husband and was also a self-taught artist. She had a knack for never forgetting anyone's birthday. She loved to go to the family cabin in Pagosa Springs, Colorado and looked forward to spending summers there after her retirement. She is preceded in death by her mother and father; daughter, Donette Purinton and sister, Louise Fulgham. Nettie is survived by her loving husband of fifty-two years, Donald Watson; two daughters, Debby and her husband, Sam Parks of Albuquerque, and Diane and her husband, Louie Gurule of Peralta; Niece, Elona and her husband, Tom Rocco; ten grandchildren, Shayleen and Ross Rocco, Adrian Apodaca and his wife, Regina, Clete Purinton, Michael Apodaca, Shawnee and her husband, Ray Del Greco, Corey and Cameron Parks, and Louie and David Gurule; three great-grandchildren, Michael and Luke Apodaca, and Jacy Lovin; two sisters, Bonnie and her husband, Charlie Gladwell of Peralta, and Wanda Cox of Valencia. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Services will take place at Romero Funeral Home Chapel beginning with a viewing on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Wright, Hugh Sarrels, Ronnie Roberts, Ron Watson, Bruce Butler, Todd Baughman, Tim Baughman, and Jeff Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Shore, Randy Smith, Jim Cox, and Jordan Pareo. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM 87002.
