Gudrun McHaney, 92, St. Cloud, MN., October 27, 1911 - March 30, 2004. Formerly of Westhope and Christine, ND and Belen, NM, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Friday, April 2, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Burial will be in the Christine Cemetery, Christine, ND. Gudrun McHaney was born October 27, 1911 in Westhope, ND to Herbrand and Margit (Lilleslet) Nermyr. She attended Mayville (ND) Teachers College and taught school in the Westhope area for two years. She married James McHaney on July 16, 1932. In 1949, Gudrun and James and their family moved to a farm near Christine, ND where they lived for 21 years. Upon the death of James, Gudrun moved to Belen, NM where she lived for 27 years. She moved to St. Cloud in June 2000. Survivors include sons and daughters, Pat Heth (Gene Dankenbring) of Sedona, AZ; JoAnn Grimes of Minneapolis, MN; Marlene Burnison of Little Falls, MN; Carol (Steven) Walz of St. Cloud, MN; Roger McHaney of St. Cloud, MN; Irma (Randall) Patten of Springfield, OR, and Jeffrey McHaney of Big Stone City, SD; brothers and sisters, Selmer Nermyr of Bella Vista, AR; Palmer Nermyr of Westhope, ND; Alice Lodoen of Bottineau, ND; Pauline Howard of Minot, ND; and Lillian Jespersen of New Hope, MN; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren. Gudrun was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, on April 25, 1968; one infant child; two brothers and one sister.
