Obituary for PEPPIN

George Hector Dewar Peppin, 84, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on March 22, 2004. Born in Dawson, New Mexico on October 12, 1919, he served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army in the 45th Division, 157th Infantry. George graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1946 where he had played on the Lobo football team on the 1939 and 1945 Sun Bowl teams. He taught and coached at Aztec, New Mexico High School for five years. After 30 years in the natural gas industry, he retired from North West Pipeline. He was a Mason for over 50 years with membership in Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shriners and Sojourners. He was a national officer in Sojourners and conducted programs explaining the history and significance of the U.S. flag. George is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hazel; children, Clyde Henry, Diana Lee, and George Kevin; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Evening Services will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel of Sunrise, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with burial on Monday, March 29, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
