Obituary for HAWKINS

John W., 83, passed away on March 23, 2004. He was born to the parents of Jesse and Francis Hawkins in Geneseo, Kansas on October 11, 1920. He is survived by his loving wife, Fayma Hawkins of the family home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. They were married in Lebanon, Missouri November 12, 1943. He is also survived by three daughters, Karen Lemmons and husband, Danny of Copan, Oklahoma, Pat Bodkins and husband, Roy of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Susan Cowell and fiance, David Wilkes of New Mexico; ten grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; brother, Herbert Hawkins and wife, Ellen of Lyons, Kansas; sister, Edna Wolfe of Lyons, Kansas. John was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Thelma Warner. He was a member of Riverside Church of Christ. John entered into the military service September 1940 in the US Army heavy field artillery, served in Europe during WWII and was discharged November 1, 1945. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans in Albuquerque. Mr. Hawkins was a detailed wood worker by trade from 1946 to 1957. Then employed by Dar Tile Co. as 1st Vice President and manager of their laminated plastic counter top division for 25 years. He retired in 1982. Service will be held on Friday, March 26, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Riverside Church of Christ, 3100 La Orilla Rd. NW with Mark McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Jay Jones, Adam Jones, John Smith, Buck Lemmons, Danny Lemmons and David Wilkes. Friends and family may visit French Mortuary - Westside Chapel on Thursday, March 25, 2004 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Christian Children's Home, 5700 Winter Haven Rd.
