Obituary for LEATHERMAN

Acie Lynn Leatherman Sr., age 65, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Friday, March 12, 2004. He was born July 10, 1938, in Stevenville, TX. Acie was preceded in death by his parents, Burl O. and Mary Ellen Leatherman; a baby son, Johnny Wayne Leatherman; brothers, Johnny and Dwain Leatherman; and sisters, Alberta Dacy and Christine Mills. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Evalyn; three sons, Acie Lynn Jr. and wife, Kelly, Garland Wayne Sr. and wife, Diane and James David and wife, Dawn; six grandchildren, Jana Jill and husband, Dominic Duran, Stephanie Lynn, Garland W. Jr., David, Ashley and Audrey Leatherman; sisters, Imogene Smith of Albuquerque and Wynell Leatherman of Texas; brother, Garland Leatherman of Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law who loved him very much. Acie moved to New Mexico in the early fifties where he met and married Evalyn on June 25, 1960. They moved to Washington State for a few years where he worked for Weyerhaeuer in the lumber industry. They moved back to Albuquerque where he worked in the trucking industry for many years. Acie loved to hunt and fish with his sons and to have all of the grandchildren and family around him. He enjoyed keeping in touch with his CB buddies and friends. Acie loved New Mexico but was always a Texan at heart. Acie's humor and laughter will be missed by all. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, with Pastor Ernest Key officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jerry Crites, Johnny Piper, Charlie Crites, Dominic Duran, Larry Fechter and Mark Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bret Gibson and Jay Johnson. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333
