Peter O. Griego, age 81 who was a member of a pioneer Los Griegos family passed away on Friday March 12, 2004. He is survived by his beloved wife, Emma L Griego of 57 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Maria and Predicanda Griego and his son, Peter Griego III. Peter was a member of Elks Lodge 461, and V.F.W. Post 401. He was a WW II and Korean War Anti-Aircraft Artillery Captain. He later became a reserve United States Public Health Officer. Griego retired as Chief Sanitarian in charge of the food service division for the City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department. He was a life member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish of Los Griegos. He was a graduate of the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Science Degree. A viewing and visitation will be held Monday March 15, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday march 16, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW with Fr. Joe Vigil celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary cemetery with Charles Castillo, Robert Castillo, Frank Aragon, Larry Gordon, Russell Rhoades, and Jesus Casas Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE 884-1188
