Obituary for SCHAEFER

Louise Schaefer, 85, of Albuquerque, and formerly of Santa Fe, died Saturday, February 28, 2004. A family prayer meeting was held and burial will be in Santa Fe in the near future. Louise Kenly Wilhide was born on January 18, 1919, in Frederick, MD, to George Raymond and Mary Moberly Wilhide. She grew up in Norfolk, VA. In 1938 she married James B. Deans and three daughters were born of that union. In 1948 she married Jack W. Schaefer. They resided on the east coast before moving to Santa Fe, NM in 1954. Louise was at one time a reporter for the Baltimore Sun and a regular contributor to Child Life Magazine. Her plays were published by Mayorga under the name of Lee Schaefer, and were produced in college theaters. Her play Ignacio! was produced here in Albuquerque in 1970. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Mamie and Ray Wilhide, a sister, Lillian, in childhood, both husbands, and three brothers-in-law, Walter Hopf, Weaver Kimball and Max Presnell. She is survived by three daughters: Claudia Pfeiffer and husband, Bill of Aberdeen, SD, Sharon Deans Truske and husband, Ted and Stephani Schaefer, all of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Raymond and wife, Alice of Frederick, MD and Richard Wilhide of Ocala, FL; two sisters: Harriett Hopf of Rockville, MD and Carol Presnell of Twin Falls, ID. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Laurel View, where Louise last resided.
