Mary F. Niwa, 86, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, and formerly of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2004. Mary was born September 19, 1917 in Terre Haute, Indiana and lived the early years of her life there. She attended school at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois where she received her nursing degree. In 1940 she married the late John A. Niwa and following her retirement they resided in Albuquerque, NM for several years. She had resided in Dothan, AL since 1990. Mary was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, John G. Niwa and wife Ann of Gore, OK; two daughters, Carol Jordan and husband Marvin of Dothan, AL, and Mary Ann Silvia and husband Robert of Applevalley, CA; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Services were held in Dothan, AL on Tuesday, March 9, 2004. A Graveside Service will be held today, Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho.
