Alberta Irene "Tootie" Ryan passed away early Friday morning at Manzano del Sol Retirement Home. Alberta was one of ten children born to Herman and Mary Bartels of Clinton, IA. A passionate and benevolent mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she graced the world with her presence for more than 81 years. Raising five children while working a job, she was also an avid outdoor person. She was a nonstop whirlwind in her garden and in her whole life in general. She is survived by her sister, Ella May Humphrey of Clinton, IA; two sons, Patrick and Paul; three daughters, Mary, Teresa, and Nancy; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Paul preceded her in death in 1994. Memorial services will be held Monday, March 8, 2004, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel.
