Walter I. Neel, 91, a life time resident of Albuquerque, died on Thursday, March 4, 2004. He is survived by his sons, Frank H. Neel and his wife, Maggie, Leslie A. Neel and wife, Colleen, and Melvin R. Neel and wife, Jimmie all of Albuquerque; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Foster of Silver City, NM and Bette Wilkes of Albuquerque; step-daughters, Joyce Mahnke and husband, Richard and Vickie McClure and husband, Hubert both of Placitas, NM. Walter is preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Marie Neel on February 13, 1990, his second wife, Norma Corcoran Neel in 1997 and grandson, Randy Neel in 1990. He worked as a plant supervisor with PNM, retiring after 35 years of service. Walter loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile, ride motorcycles, play softball and bowl. He was a longtime member of Odd Fellows Lodge. Graveside services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menual NE, with Pastor Jane P. Harmes officiating.
