Obituary for HARDY

Miss Dora Frances Hardy, our beloved sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2004. She was born on February 20, 1915 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to The Reverend Samuel Stuart and Ethel May Hardy. After moving to Medina, OH as a young lady she attended the Harcourt Girls School in Gambier, OH. She attended Miami University in Oxford, OH for her 2-year teaching certificate. Dora taught in the Cleveland schools until 1954, when she went to Panama. She taught Special Ed for the DOD schools in Panama for 22 years. It was during her biannual vacations to visit with family in New Mexico that she earned her Masters in Education from UNM, and fell in love with the community of Placitas, NM. Upon her retirement in 1977, she moved to Placitas where she continued to be active in her community. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She loved to read, travel, garden, and play bridge with her dear friends. Dora is survived by her sister, Mary Grace (Hardy) Gantt; and her brother-in-law, Richard R. Gantt. Also two nephews, Brian F. Blank, James S. Blank and spouse, Kandie and their three children; three nieces, Victoria L. Ebell and spouse, Myron and their four children; Susan E. Page and spouse, Brian and their three children; and Gretchen Garey and spouse, Mickey and their six children. She was dearly loved by all and will always be fondly remembered. A family service will be held for Dora on Saturday, March 6, 2004 in Placitas.
