Geneva's early years involved helping the family harvest cabbage in the summer and ice blocks cut from Eagle Nest Lake, transporting goods to Raton, Cimarron and Taos and working at the hotel's in E-town and Eagle Nest. In 1942, she wed Roy F. Menning, a B-17 captain and Doctor of Optometry. Geneva was a founding member of Four Hills Country Club where she embraced the philosophies of Golf and Bridge, becoming a low handicap and masters champion. She pursued careers in modeling, worked for Jack Rust Tractor, Lincoln Mercury and earned her real estate license in 1963. As a social figure, she danced with the Daughter's of the Nile, hosted the scavenger hunt and purple people eater parties which are still talked about today. In 1966, she wed Col. F.D. Harris (Larry) and moved to Washington DC where Joints Chief's of Staff entertained them. Her travels included Hawaii, Hong Kong, Saigon, and the world at large before settling in Orlando, FL. She returned to Albuquerque in 1990, offering her services to the Four Hill's and Village Garden Neighborhood Associations, the bridge group ladies, her neighbors, and community services. The family wishes to thank all of these people and friends, including Florence and Doug Thompson, the staff at Bear Canyon, Bank of the West Manzano Branch, where all of these visits brought comfort and peace of mind and especially EMT's and staff at Lovelace for easing her transition. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 5, 2004, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment of cremated remains will take place in Arlington National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a brief reception at Geneva's home, in Four Hills, following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions be made to the DAV Vietnam Veteran's National Memorial in Angel Fire, Immanuel Presbyterian Church or the Dementia and Alzheimer's Association of New Mexico. The day before Geneva's passing were record rains, the day following, the biggest winter storm in years. "Your red hair and two green thumbs ensure a bountiful spring and fruitful year." God bless with pride, respect and love for eternity. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 275-3500
