Obituary for BILLS

Edith C. Bills, "Edie," formerly of Sioux Falls, died peacefully February 28, 2004 at her home surrounded with family at her bedside after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Edie was born March 22, 1941 in Centerville, SD to Oscar and Clara Ostrem. After her father's death in 1950, the family moved to Sioux Falls. Edie graduated from Washington High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to David Bills in 1962 and spent almost 42 years married to her best friend. She spent most of her life as a homemaker raising her two boys and taking care of her family. Dave and Edie moved to Tucson in 1995 and later moved to Albuquerque where she was very happy. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Albuquerque. Edie was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly. Her patience, unselfishness and the courage she displayed during her illness with cancer were an inspiration to all that knew her. She will especially be missed by her four grandchildren that she loved deeply. Edie is survived by her husband Dave of Albuquerque; her son Chris and wife Shawn, and their children Peyton and Nicholas; her son Scott and wife Christine, and their children Madison and Charlie, all of Sioux Falls; a brother Delmar Ostrem of Sioux Falls; a sister Martha Grosenick of Hastings, MN; a sister Vivian Johnke of Centerville, SD; a sister-in-law, Myla Ostrem of Stringville, CA; numerous other family members, numerous nieces and nephews, and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Olin James Ostrem, and a sister Donna Del Temple. The family is grateful for the care she received from the University of New Mexico Cancer center and Hospice program and request memorials be sent there in lieu of flowers. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Faith Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. Friends may visit French Mortuary on Monday, March 1, 2004 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Arrangements in Sioux Falls are pending.
