Obituary for NYQUIST

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday February 19, 2004

Vivian Eleanor Harris Nyquist, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, was called home to be with Our Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 15, 2004. She was born May 14, 1916 in her grandparent's home in Manhattan, Kansas to Madge and Leo Harris. Her childhood was exciting and well traveled as her parents separated when she was young. She grew up on the farm with her grandparents and when she was 14 years old, she moved to Tucumcari, NM, and then on to Laramie, Wyoming settling with her father, stepmother Leatha and sisters Wynona, Delores and Nadine. Vivian's true loves were her "great" grandchildren, pets and her painting. Between Vivian and her husband Oscar, they rescued hundreds of dogs and cats, including the live Lobo mascots in the 1960's. She traveled with Oscar to Europe for his extended military tour in the 50's with their daughter Kristina. After returning home, they settled down, spent time at the Colorado family ranch, and passing on traditional values to their daughter and enjoyed their grandchildren, born while they were in Europe. She passed on her love for the care of pets to her children and grandchildren, and taught her grandkids how to paint. She leaves behind a legacy of her love for painting and other crafts skills she passed on to Kris, and her grandchildren. Her humor was sparked quickly, and she always had an infectious laugh. She is survived by her special "SWEETIE" and companion of four years, Sam Lerner; brother, Leslie Harris of Washington his wife Sibylle, and his daughters Sheryl, Debbie and Belinda; sister, Delores Crout of Wyoming, and her children Billy, Mike, Marilyn, Jeannie and Leo; daughter, Deanna Jungerman, husband Jimmy of Dallas, TX; Deanna's daughter Tresa Coker, her husband David of Dallas, TX, son Michael Jackson, and stepson Jimmy "Bubba" Jr of Arizona; daughter, Kristina A. Nyquist-Asmussen, her husband Harry Asmussen and their children Kalysta and Harrison of Tijeras, NM; and William Satter's wife and daughter-in-law Susan A. Satter of Albuquerque, NM and their children Thomas O. Satter, wife Gaylen and their daughter Holly of Boulder, CO; John E. Satter, and his wife, Neva and sons Levi and Christopher of Boulder, CO; and Karen Gose, husband Roger and children Matthew and William of Fort Worth, TX. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Oscar who passed away in 1992; beloved son, Pastor William E.
