Obituary for BACA

Doroteo R. "D.R." Baca peacefully joined our Lord, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Adelino, NM He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel A. and Leocadia Baca; his brothers, Ramon Baca and Edwin Berry; his daughter-in-law, Susan M. Baca; and brothers-in-law Placido Padilla and Santiago Marquez. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carmen Bernal Baca of the family home in Adelino; his daughter, Elizabeth M. Baca of Adelino; his seven sons, Ramon and his wife, Cecilia, Arnold, all of Adelino, Patricio and his wife, Annie of Albuquerque, Angelo and his wife, Judy of Adelino, Jacob, George and his wife, Elizabeth all of Albuquerque and Charles and his wife, Mary Margaret of Adelino. He is also survived by twenty one grandchildren & thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Gladio I. "Lalo" and his wife, Consuelo, and Max T. and his wife, Theresa all of Adelino; Two sisters, Crisanta Padilla of Tome, and Filomena and her husband, Jose U. Otero of Peralta; sisters-in-law, Emma B. Marquez and Assunta Berry both of Adelino. Doroteo proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served under General Patton and was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. He was wounded by shrapnel while acting as a Scout. Upon returning home, he married his high school sweetheart and began his career in farming and ranching. He was actively involved in the Farm Bureau, Sheriff's Posse, VFW and the Republican Party. He was appointed U.S. Marshall for NM in 1969 and honorably served for 12 years. He retired and returned full-time to farming and ranching, which he loved dearly. All services will take place at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome, NM. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 20 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. with a rosary immediately following. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. with an interment immediately following at the Tome Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be; Michael Flowers, Bobby and Adam Baca, Joseph Gallegos, David, Jonathon, and Christopher Baca. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Jordan Baca and Steven Flowers.
