Joe Mario Cordova, 69, a resident of Rio Rancho for 7 years, died on February 5, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Eleen V. Cordova of Rio Rancho; son, Jason Cordova of Puerto Rico; two sisters, Beatrice Garcia of Longmont, CO and Rose Garcia and husband, Toby of Tucumcari. Joe retired from the United States Air Force in 1972 after 20 years of service. During his enlistment he served two years in Vietnam. After his military career, Joe was employed by the Lockheed Corporation in Iran where he met his future wife, Eleen. Later, he was employed by the Boeing Company in Istanbul, Turkey. After leaving Turkey he worked for 12 years in the U.S. Civil Service. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Rio Rancho. Service will take place on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho, 3906 19th Ave. SE, with Reverend Si Budagher, officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, at 2:30 p.m. with full military honors.
