John Anthony Di Paola, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on January 18, 2004. John was born on January 22, 1940 to Joseph and Rebecca Di Paola in Manhattan, New York.John was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching all kinds of sporting events. In his younger years, he was proud to have played baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates farm team. John was passionate about cooking and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, loved to garden, and often enjoyed working crossword puzzles. John was always looking forward to any intellectual challenge and loved beauty and order. He was a man with a great sense of humor and will be deeply missed by all of his cherished friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Rebecca and Joseph Di Paola. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Shelton; her children, Russell K. Greene of WA, Timothy W. Green and wife, Linda, Andra Bosiljevac and husband, Tom, Julie LaPaglia, and her children, Shantele and Grace; all of Albuquerque; sister, Roberta Di Paola; brothers, Richard and Frank Di Paola and wife, Carole, all of New York; adored nieces, Melissa and her children, Ryan and Katelyn, and Laurie and her children, Andrew and Lianna, all of New York, and a host of loving friends. Graveside services for John will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at Vista Verde Memorial Park (Sara Rd. @ Meadowlark Lane) in Rio Rancho.
