Obituary for SEWARD

Dorothy E. Seward, age 88, of Beavercreek, OH, and formerly of Albuquerque, and Las Vegas, New Mexico, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2004, at the Trinity Community in Beavercreek. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Walter E. and Henrietta (von Briesen) Kaser, her husband, Donald E. Seward, in 1997, and her sister, Margaret Kaser. Dorothy is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Walter D. and Sadie Seward, of Beavercreek, OH, John and Gayle Seward, of Prarie View, KS; a daughter and son-in-law, Peg and Sherman Jennings, of Copperas Cove, TX; nine grandchildren, Larry and Karen Lyons, Carol and Stan Holle, Tony Seward, Steve and Shelly Seward, Dan Seward and Jill Galvan, Amy, Adam, Lindsay and Jack Seward; and seven great grandchildren. An accomplished musician, she graduated from Milwaukee-Downer college in 1936 with a degree in music, majoring in piano and violin. She played violin with the El Paso, TX symphony orchestra and with the Las Vegas, NM civic orchestra. She received her elementary teacher's certificate from New Mexico Highlands University and taught in the Las Vegas school system for several years. She was an active member of the Eastern Star, White Shrine, Daughters of the Nile, and PEO. Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at St. Helen Catholic Church, 5100 Burkhardt Road, Riverside, OH, with Father Paul F. DeLuca officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9 A.M. until the time of services on Wednesday. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Las Vegas, NM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1700, Chicago, IL 60601-7633. Services in care of the Tobias Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel.
