Obituary for HOCKETT-PITTEL

Margaret M Hockett-Pittel (Peggy) Born 10-15-54 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. On January 16th, Peggy slipped from the loving arms of her family, while at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Peggy is preceded in death by her father James H Hockett. Survived by her husband, Michael S Pittel; her son, Luke Hockett of Albuquerque; mother, Nancy Hockett of Tijeras; brother Chris Hockett of Albuquerque; sisters Linda and husband, Paul Sanasac of Tijeras, Jane Hockett of Tijeras and Mary Hockett of Taos and her niece and nephew, Sara of Tijeras and Zac Sanasac of Albuquerque. Peggy was the first woman firefighter in Cibola National Forest District. During her fifteen year career with the Sandia Fire District, Peggy received awards for her innovative improvements and changes to firefighting equipment and procedures. She retired as a Tanker Foreman and entered into a career as a horse trainer. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St Charles Borroneo (1818 Coal Pl SE) on Wednesday January 21st at 1:30 p.m. A private interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The family welcomes friends at the Sanasac home after 5:00 p.m. #23 Eagle Road and S-14, Tijeras, NM.
