Marie Fuertsch, 87, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 30 years, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2003. Marie was born September 21, 1916 the daughter of Andrew Joseph and Mary Agnes Mulloy Welsh in Dallas, Texas. Marie came to New Mexico from Ft. Worth, Texas. She was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic church; signature member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society; member of Albuquerque United Artists; and the Yucca Group of American Pen Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis E. Fuertsch in 1993. She is survived by five children, David F. Fuertsch, Kenneth Fuertsch, Karen A. Mitchell, Maureen Fuertsch, and Andrew J. Fuertsch; three grandchildren, Nathan, Sara, and Alicia; and one great-grandchild, Devin. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated today, Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho.
