Obituary for BERNAL

Antonio D. (Tony) Bernal, a resident of Los Lunas, New Mexico, passed away on January 2, 2004. Tony was born in Tinaja, New Mexico, on January 24, 1924, where he lived until he enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II. After leaving the Navy Tony worked for Wylie Brothers Corporation, in Albuquerque. He retired in 1989. During much of this time he and his wife, Nora also ran the Cattleman's Livestock Cafe in Belen, New Mexico. Tony is survived by his wife of 45 years Nora S. Bernal of Belen, New Mexico; five step children, Charlene Bryant of Los Lunas, Cathy and her husband, Lanny Cornell of El Cajon, CA., Sue Bock of Los Lunas, Pat and her husband Bob Richards of El Cajon, CA., Jerry Medley and his wife Susan of San Clemente, CA; three sisters, Elena Bernal and Terecina Jean of Albuquerque, Viola Castillo of Palo Blanco, NM; two brothers, Ignacio Bernal and his wife Lala of Springer, NM, Juan Bernal and his wife Louise of Sherman, TX , thirteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Tony was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, New Mexico Chapter, 8100 Mountain Rd. NE, Suite 102, Albuquerque, NM 87110. A visitation will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel from 2:30 p.m.to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2004. A rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Monday, January 5, 2004 with a Funeral Mass following at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen.
