Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday December 21, 2003

Travis L. Page. Having just turned 59 on November 24, 2003. Travis Lawrence Page of Espanola broke the painful bounds of this earth on December 17, 2003. His father, Travis Morris Page, who died in combat in WWII, and his stepfather, L.D. Wilson, who raised him, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Sandra of the home; his mother, Janet Wilson of Albuquerque (Janet died less then 24 hours after her son); three sons, Travis Jr. of Colorado Springs, Daniel of Colorado Springs; his daughter, Amanda Lynn of Gorham, Maine who shared his birth date and was always the finest birthday gift he ever received, and Carl Michael and Carl's wife, Sarah of Albuquerque; much loved uncles and aunts, Fred Smith of Albuquerque, Paul and Divita Smith of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Mary Albright of Portland, Oregon, Marjorie Jordan of San Antonio, Texas, Leota Hicks of Roy, New Mexico and Tom and Fern Moody of Albuquerque; stepchildren, Lisa Ward and Trey Richardson of the Ft. Worth area; and two step-grandchildren, Travis and Heather also of Ft. Worth. Travis was born in Santa Fe and attended school there except for a year spent in Juneau, Alaska. He graduated from Santa Fe High and then attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Being a young man of the 60s, Travis joined the crowds of young people in San Francisco and then went to Minneapolis where he met his former wife, Barbara Oliver. They married in 1970, bought a farm in Wisconsin and proceeded to raise four children as back-to-the-land farmers. Travis never lost his love of farming, tractors and growing food. He was one of the founders of the Organic Farmer's Assn of Wisconsin. He leaves many dear friends who still live in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area. He returned to northern New Mexico, settling in the Dixon area, where he met Sandra in 1995, and they married in 1997. He was a genius at machinery and has fixed or replaced many a car part, well pump, etc. for friends and acquaintances in and around Dixon. He worked as a stone mason, did carpentry, sold tractor parts and, for the last few years, worked for a small engineering company in Santa Fe as a test technician for road projects. Travis never met a machine he couldn't fix, sometimes by simply laying his hands on it. When asked how he would like to be remembered, Travis said he hoped that everyone would know that the most gratifying thing in life for him was to help other people. He gave of his time and talent and doing so gave him great pleasure. Travis preferred to be cremated and have his loved ones remember him the way he was before cancer struck him down. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Travis may do so to Los Rios Home Health Care, 835 Spruce St., Suite D, Espanola NM 87532, who helped take care of him in his final illness, especially his visiting nurse, Laura and his home health aide, Ann. The family would like to express appreciation and gratitude to Janet Smith NP at LAMC for her care and comfort during this and previous illnesses. A gathering and potluck meal for friends and family will be held at the Presbyterian Mission Building in Dixon, NM from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2004.
