Obituary for METZGAR

Alfonso Metzgar, a member of one of the South Valley pioneer families of Albuquerque, died December 5, 2003. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Prisca and daughter, Lillian Kenneson. He is survived by daughter, Dorothy Griego of Pittsburg, CA and husband, Franklin; daughters, Linda Trevarthen and husband, Michael, their children, Morgan and Kyle of Antioch, CA, Deanne Goddard and her husband, Robert, and their daughter, Sara of Philadelphia, PA. Natalie Kenneson-Bridwell, daughter, of Lillian of Albuquerque, her son, Mark Alan and his father, David Bridwell; nephews, Ivan and Gilbert Metzgar of San Francisco, CA, and many nieces and nephews of Albuquerque, NM. Alfonso retired as a Long Shoreman based in San Francisco, a well respected business man, strong supporter and contributor to Union Solidarity. He was also an avid gardener, traveled most of the world and considered both Albuquerque and San Francisco his home. Alfonso will be missed by many whether you knew him well or just met him once, he is someone you will never forget. He was one of the hardest workers you could have ever met, he was canning quince just two months ago when he suffered a stroke as well as a heart attack. The family wishes to express their appreciation to St. Joseph Hospital, Paloma Blanca, French Mortuary and his dedicated friends. As most of you know, Alfonso requested no services or flowers.
