Obituary for VALENTINE

Richard A. Valentine, 74, a long time resident of Santa Fe and Albuquerque, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Doris Valentine; daughter, Laura A. Younis of Chantilly, Virginia; sons, Richard A. Valentine Jr. and wife, Celeste of Santa Fe, John M. Valentine and wife, Julia of Espanola, and Mark C. Valentine of Denver, CO; daughter, Dolores M. Martinez and husband, John Carlo of Avondale, AZ; eight grandchildren, Carl, Ryan, Erica, Toby, Joshua, Rikki, Kristin and Eric; brother-in-law, Raymond Brandwein and wife, Araceli of Albuquerque; and sister-in-law, Barbara A. Bozak of Silver Springs, Maryland. Mr. Valentine was born in Washington, D.C. He served in the United States Navy. Mr. Valentine retired from the United States Park Police in 1979. He was an avid volunteer for the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Bear Canyon Senior Center and the AARP. Mr. Valentine was a member of John XXIII Catholic Community. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. Rosary will be recited Thursday, December 11, 2003, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, with Deacon Alex Trujillo reciting. Mass will be celebrated Friday, December 12, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge NE, with Father Arkad Biczak, Celebrant. Following Mass, cremation will take place. Burial of cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Central NM, 1410 Coal Ave. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87104. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 275-3500
