Wanda Kay Staehlin, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Sister, died unexpectedly, Monday, December 8, 2003. She was preceded in death by husband, Ray, and parents, Walter and Mabel Ellis. Wanda is survived by her son, David and wife, Margaret; son, Jerry; daughter, Janet Dwyer and husband, Larry; granddaughter, Robin Townsend of Austin, TX; step-grandson, Gregory Tudor and wife, Michelle of Peoria, IL; sister, Evelyn Byrd and husband, J.W.; niece, Niki Byrd Dickie and husband, Frank; nephew, James W. Byrd and wife, Teresa; great-nieces Amelia Ann and Jamie Lee; and 9 step-great-grandchildren. Wanda was born October 6, 1919 in St. Genevieve, Missouri and as a young child her family moved to New Mexico. She attended local schools and graduated from Albuquerque High School at the age of 15. Wanda went on to the University of New Mexico where she graduated at the age of 18. She taught at Old Town school before marrying Ray. She was devoted to her family, church and friends, and will be truly missed by all. Services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menual NE. Friends may visit Wednesday, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel.
