Jack D. Oberst, 47, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Janelle Campbell of Albuquerque; one step-son, Jim Suttle and wife, Joanne of Roswell; three granddaughters, Katlyn, Elisa and Christine, all of Roswell; one step-daughter, Nicole Taylor and husband, Dan of Bahrain; three grandchildren, Sarah, Sami and Steven, all of Bahrain; parents, Mel and Alice Oberst of Albuquerque; mother-in-law, Emma Nelle Campbell of Nashville, TN; three brothers, Mike Oberst of Buffalo, NY, Andy Oberst and wife, Michelle of San Diego, CA and Rob Oberst and wife, Amy of Boise, ID; three sisters, Angela Armstrong and husband, Bobby of Albuquerque, Linda Walsh and husband, Greg of Denver, CO and Jane Smethurst and husband, Gary of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Oberst graduated from Manzano High School in 1974 and attended the University of New Mexico. He married Janelle Campbell in 1990. Together they owned and operated Creative Learning Center. He was a wonderful math teacher who loved teaching math skills to children as well as helping students with ACT/SAT preparation. Memorial services will be held Friday, December 5, 2003, at 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, with Pastor Jim Suttle and Bro. Mike Oberst officiating. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, Thursday, December 4, 2003, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Rio Grande Division, 2021 Girard SE, Suite 201, Albuquerque, NM, 87106.
