IN MEMORY VIRGINIA SMITH-HOPKINS November 27, 1958 - March 21, 2000 Virginia Smith-Hopkins, our "Ginny" was born on Thanksgiving Day, 1958, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She died suddenly and tragically March 21, 2000. She was a graduate of Eldorado High School, and a 1986 graduate of the University of New Mexico in Mechanical Engineering. At the time of her death Virginia was employed as a Mechanical Engineer at Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant in Arizona. She was always very proud of her engineering education at UNM. Virginia was known for her kindness, her intelligence, graceful wit and sense of humor. She left behind her husband, Jim, and son, Daniel in Phoenix, her parents, Bill and Sara Dawn Smith, her brother, Dwight and his wife, Kimberly and their daughter, Mackenzie in Albuquerque, and her sister, Beth in Denver, Colorado. We mourn her loss daily. On this Thanksgiving Day we give thanks for the joy she brought into our lives throughout her life.
