Obituary for BAKER

David James Baker, 54, died Saturday, November 15, 2003 in Durango, Colorado due to Natural Causes. Visitation will be held at Hood Mortuary on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, November 20, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church and Father Eddy Andary will be officiating. Burial will occur at Ouray Memorial Cemetery in Ignacio. Mr. Baker was born May 7, 1949 in Albuquerque the son of Casimero and Anita Baker. He married Laura Louise Kozminski in 1985 in Albuquerque at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Mr. Baker graduated from Valley High School in Albuquerque and from the University of New Mexico with an associate's degree. He served in the U.S. Army for two tours in Vietnam. Mr. Baker loved to travel and he loved his children more than life. "Everything was an adventure to David," says his wife, Laura. "He was a philosopher and [he] thought in spiritual realms. He was a warrior and wasn't afraid of anything" He is survived by his wife, Laura Baker of Albuquerque; brothers, Richard Baker of Seattle, WA, Levi L. Baker of Durango, CO; Children, Michael Baker, Brian Baker, Sarah Baker, Viah Baker; and grandson, Donovan C. Baker all of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel C. Baker, Archie L. Baker; father, Casimero Burns Baker; and his mother, Anita Padilla Baker.
