Obituary for KRAWLL

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday November 18, 2003

Jack Krawll, 93, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2003. Jack was born October 13, 1910 the son of Max and Sarah Krawll in St. Louis, Missouri. Jack had many careers. An accomplished violinist, he played with orchestras in California during the war years. Later, he worked at retail stores, where he eventually became an expert in jewelry sales and design. When Jack retired in the late 80's, he did volunteer work, as he humbly said, "just so I could help people." Jack served as a HIBAC volunteer for over 14 years. Despite personal and family illnesses that would have sidelined people half his age, Jack kept working. He was an active volunteer at Manzano Del Sol, and recently became the Vice President of the resident Counsel Services. He worked every night as the front desk concierge for the last four years, greeting visitors everyday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Kay; and a younger brother, Cantor Edward Krawll. He is survived by two daughters, Helene K. Fellen of Albuquerque, and Marcia B. Krawll of Awamutu, New Zealand; grandchildren, Rick Fellen of Los Angeles, CA, and Melissa Kravetz of Panama City, FL; two great grandchildren, Kameron Kravetz (age3) and Megan Elizabeth Kravetz, (just born Nov. 3, 2003); and one sister, Zelda Friedman from California. The Service for Jack will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 1:00 PM at Congregation Albert. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. It has been suggested that memorials in Jack's name be made to Manzano Del Sol, 5201 Roma Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, or the Educational Fund at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
