Eula Mae Hernandez, nee Rosser, 77, of Albuquerque, NM passed away Thursday, November 13, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rupert J. Hernandez and grandson, Thomas Joseph Hernandez; her parents and 10 brothers and sisters. She is survived by sisters Eunice Williamson and Mary Rosser; daughter, Paula Casady and son-in-law, Charley; son, Randy Hernandez; daughter, Jeanne Sorrell and John Guertin; son, Thomas Hernandez and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Sandra Sorrell, Aaron Glicco, Sarah Casady, Mariah Hernandez, Caitlyn Hernandez, Justin Guertin, and great-grandson, Joseph Riley Casady. She is also survived by her dearest friend, Belinda Nichols and ex-son-in-law, Rick Sorrell. Eula was born in Sanford, NC on January 26, 1926. After graduating from Duke University and becoming a registered nurse she moved to Denver, CO where she married Rupert and raised her family. She worked in numerous hospitals in the Denver area and also did private-duty nursing. The family relocated to Albuquerque in 1976. Eula worked at Lovelace Medical Center, mainly on the 4th floor medical, until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and loved her friends there. She and Rupert were actively involved in NAMI and Prison Fellowship. Eula was an angel on this earth and a nurse for all of her life. She cared about her patients, her family, her friends and strangers. She had a kind heart, a quick wit and a compassion for the human race that lasted till the day she died. Eula was always more concerned for others than for herself. Once a nurse, always a nurse, and one of the best there was. Our hearts are broken, but we shall carry on and use her life as an example of how life should be lived. "Gray skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face, and spread sunshine all over the place, just put on a happy face." Services will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 9315 Candelaria Rd. NE, Albuquerque, with The Rev. Dr. Michael Elliott officiating. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Tuesday, November 18, 2003, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please do something kind for someone in memory of Eula.
