Obituary for SAMUELSON

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday October 26, 2003

Karl Samuelson, too young, died Wednesday, October 22, 2003, while riding his Harley. Karl was a wonderful, fun and free-spirited man who lived every day to the fullest with his "Sunshine" Sharon Gordon. They were filled with the joy and excitement of planning their upcoming wedding on December 20th. They loved dancing, working with students, playing pool and living life to the fullest. Karl and Sharon rode together often and enjoyed new adventures. Karl graduated with honors from Albuquerque TVI in 2002 with an Associates Degree in Metals Technology. He worked as a machinist at Sandia National Labs and will be missed by all of his friends in Projects & Measurements, Building 840. Karl was committed to students and the community, demonstrated by his active participation in SkillsUSA, Sertoma Workforce 2000 and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Karl suffered the loss of his teenage son, Karl Jr., 13 months ago and they are now reunited. Karl leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Lawrence Pollack; and several nieces and nephews in Omaha, NE. Karl's family also includes a huge circle of friends who loved him including Mike Gandy, Alain Archuleta, John Fitzpatrick and Susan Gordon and her children. His loss will be felt deepest by his sweetheart, Sharon, and her son, Seth Steffen. Seth filled a very special place in Karl's heart unlike any other. Seth has truly been enriched by Karl's influence and he will miss having "Krazy Karl" show up to his games on his Harley! The three lived, loved and laughed together. A final definition of his character was his donation to New Mexico Donor Services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to TVI Foundation, c/o Karl Samuelson Scholarship Fund, 525 Buena Vista SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, October 27, 2003, at 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Cremation has taken place. French Mortuary 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE 823-9400
