Gail Levy Hines and Special Agent Phil Russell Hines. Both Gail and Phil had a passion for riding their Harley motorcycle. They were killed Saturday afternoon, October 18, 2003, while riding around the Chimayo area. Parents of two children, Taylor, 18, and Elise, 17. Gail, an occupational therapist with Rehab Works; and Phil, a federal agent for 15 years, were both active in their community and church. For the last two years, Gail has served as President of PEO, a women's philanthropic organization, and both attended Hoffmantown Church. They are survived by their son, Taylor Hines and daughter, Elise Hines, both of Albuquerque. Also surviving are parents, Leo and Caroline Hines of Topeka, KS; and brother, Martin Hines of Washington, D.C. on Phil's side; and by parents, Dale Sr. and Gwen Levy of Yukon, OK; brother, Dale Levy Jr. and wife, Linda of Glenwood Springs, CO; sister, Jan Cope and husband, Bob of Poplar Bluff, MO; and nieces and nephews, Christopher and Wendy Levy, Moria and Brian Cox, Kristin and Todd Arnold and Robin Cope on Gail's side. Gail was born April 26, 1957 to Dale Francis Levy and Gwendolyn Levy in Kansas City, MO. Graduated from Sooner High School in Bartlesville, OK in May 1976; attended William Jewel University, before enrolling in the University of Kansas, graduating in May 1980 with a degree in Occupational Therapy. Married Phillip Russell Hines at Village Presbyterian Church, Overland Park, KS on May 30, 1981. Passed the Kansas Occupational Therapy licensure examination (OTR/L) in August 1981. Mother of son, Taylor Russell Hines, born November 10, 1984 and daughter, Elise Nicole Hines, born May 16, 1986, both in Dallas, TX. Worked in various rehabilitation settings for St. Luke's Hospital (Kansas City, MO), O'Donaghue Rehabilitation Institute (Oklahoma City, OK), Northeast Rehabilitation Institute (Derry, NH), Rebound, Inc. (Nashville, TN), Community Rehabilitation Services (Oklahoma City, OK), Integrated Health Services (Albuquerque, NM), and Rehab Works (Albuquerque, NM). Phil was born on September 27, 1958 to Leo Russell Hines and Caroline Leah Hines (nee Morriss) in Topeka, KS. Graduated from Topeka High School in May 1976, and attended the University of Kansas, graduating May 1980 with a degree in accounting and business. Married Gail Reed Levy at the Village Presbyterian Church, Overland Park, KS on May 30, 1981. Passed the Missouri examination of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in November 1981, becoming registered in the state of Oklahoma, and a member of both the Oklahoma and New Mexico Society of CPA's. Father of son, Taylor Russell Hines, born November 10, 1984, and daughter, Elise Nicole Hines, born May 16, 1986, both in Dallas, TX. After working ten years in private industry for Continental Grain Company (Kansas City, MO), TG&Y Stores "Company" (Oklahoma City, OK), Frito-Lay, Inc. (Plano, TX) and Signal Capital Corporation (Hampton, NH), received appointment as a Special Agent to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on March 5, 1990. After graduating from the FBI Academy at Quantico, VA, was assigned to FBI Oklahoma City, working White Collar Crime matters and the investigation of the Oklahoma City Federal Building Bombing. Received a transfer to FBI Albuquerque in September 1997 and acted as Coordinator of the Violent Fugitive Task Force for two years, prior to being assigned to Violent Crime matters. Phil recently completed FBI Polygraphy training and was one of 85 certified FBI polygraphers in the country. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at 10:00 a.m., at Hoffmantown Church, with Pastor Rob Mahon and Pastor Skip Heitzig officiating.
