Maria Fidelia Elwell Gutierrez, 92, was called home to be with her Father, on Sunday, October 19, 2003. Fidelia was born November 4, 1910 in Chilili, New Mexico the daughter of George and Luisa Martinez Elwell. She devoted her life to her nine children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Apolinario, her son Paul, daughter, Gloria, her brother, Jose Torres, and sisters, Eliza Chavez, Theresa Chavez, and Corrina Torres. Fidelia is survived by five sons and their wife's, Albert and Yolanda of Chino, CA, Abie and Martha of Downey, CA, Jerry and Kathy, Toby and Bernice and Joe Levine and Mamie of Albuquerque; two daughters, Carmen Garcia and Ruth Lopez and husband Henry, of Albuquerque. Fidelia had 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by one brother, Ben Torres and wife Virginia of Chilili, NM; sister, Presciliana Vigil of Albuquerque; and brother-in-law, Frank Chavez of Torreon, NM; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The Visitation will be this evening, Tuesday, October 21, 2003 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at San Ignacio Catholic Church, 1300 Walter NE, Albuquerque. The Communion Service will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at San Ignacio Catholic Church with Deacon Merce Villareal officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
