Obituary for SOTEL

Dorothy M. Sotel died peacefully Saturday, September 13, 2003 at her home. She was born in Miami, Arizona on November 4,1923, and was a resident of New Mexico for the past 69 years. Her sisters Marian Sotel, Connie Ryan and husband Jack of Albuquerque, uncle Thomas Abousleman of Jemez Springs, nephews Greg and David Ryan and niece Sharon Ryan, and numerous cousins survive her. Her dogs Annie and Lily will sorely miss her. Dorothy retired from the Soil Conservation Service and was formerly employed by the Department of the Navy. She was a former member of American Women?s Business Assn., a docent at the Rio Grande Zoo and a member of the Women?s Auxiliary of Annunciation Parish. Dorothy was avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, and gambling. Cremation has taken place. Rosary will be recited Thursday September 18, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. in Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. on Friday September 19, 2003 at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, 2621 Vermont NE. Burial will take place at a later date in Jemez Springs, New Mexico. The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Mitzi and Chelsea Monroe, Shirley Thompson and Rufina Williams.
