Obituary for PAYDEN

Joseph Payden, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 13, 2003. He was born on January 31, 1929 to Joseph and Ida Puckey in McKeesport, PA. Joe was very proud to have served his country in the United States Navy during WWII with tours of duty across the Mediterranean. He was an extremely friendly man who had never met a stranger. He was known to all as the "candyman", endlessly handing out his favorite Jolly Ranchers. The children in the neighborhood were very fond of hearing his musical horn when Joe passed by the bus stop. His passions included buying and selling cars, and playing many games of billiards. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Marian of Albuquerque; his precious sons, Scott and wife Kristen, and Craig Payden all of Cleveland, OH; sister, Mrs. Margaret Barowich of McKeesport, PA; a host of special friends and neighbors, and his inseparable canine companion, Zipper. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2003 at 10:30 a..m. at Mesa View United Methodist Church, (Montano at Taylor Ranch Rd.) with Pastor John Schwarting as officiant. In lieu of flowers the family asks the memorial donations be made to the Mesa View United Methodist Church, 4701 Montano Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114.
