Obituary for Kepling

John Jay Kepling, Jr., 80, a 27 year resident of Rio Rancho, silently slipped away on Friday, September 25, 1998 at 6:15 a.m. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Evelyn (Evie) of the family home; his sister, Eleanor Barton of Michigan; his brothers, Bob Kepling of Michigan, Ferris Kepling and wife, Nelda, and Richard of Ohio; his sister, Glenna Greener and husband, Wes of Ohio; his three daughters, Linda Harris and husband, Bill, and Karen Kervin, all of Ohio, and Marlene Goodman and husband, Paul of Texas. He also leaves seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He served as Chairman of the U.A.W. retirees for 17 years, was a life member of the D.A.V., belonged to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, served in the Army in WWII, was a Colonel in the New Mexico State Defense Force where he was appointed Chaplain Emeritus of the State of New Mexico. He also held membership in numerous clubs and organizations. Interment, with military honors, took place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, October 2, 1998. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be Sunday afternoon, October 11, 1998, 2:00 p.m., at the Rio Rancho Community Christian Church, (Hwy. 528 and 19th Ave. in Rio Rancho). In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Rio Rancho Christian Church, 3910 19th Ave., Rio Rancho, NM 87124. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Sunrise Society, (891-8200).
