Obituary for Horne

Patricia Ruth Bennet Horne, of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 14, 1998, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Pat was born on April 10, 1930 to Stella Mae Mackey and Stuart Bennet in Malaga, NM. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Louis Nalda on his ranch west of Carrizozo, NM. She graduated from Carrizozo High School in 1947, attended New Mexico State University for a time, then graduated from Sul Ross State College in Alpine, TX. She moved to Albuquerque after graduation in order to work a Sandia Laboratories, where she met and married George D."Denny" Horne Jr. on August 9, 1952. Denny Horne predeceased Pat in March 1996. Pat was active in Little Theater activities during the late 50s and early 60s, both on Sandia Base and with the Albuquerque Little Theater. She also served as a Docent with the Museum of Natural History in Old Town. She was a longtime participant in the Sanado Women's Club. She was an avid bridge, golf, bowling and tennis player with numerous friends who will mourn her passing. Pat is survived by her children, Micahel of San Angelo, TX, Leslie Anne of Greenbelt, MD, and Louis and his wife, Consuelo of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Eric, Alan and Jacqui Horne of Albuquerque; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Anne and Ray Dean Axe of Belen, NM; Denny's mother, Ruth Horne of Albuquerque; and numerous Mackey and Nalda relations throughout the New Mexico area. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will take place at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
