Obituary for Porter

Jennie Lou Porter, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Saturday, September 5, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Hollis Porter of Albuquerque; daughter Janice Bain and husband, Doyle of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Laura Hall of Albuquerque; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Jim Starkey. Jennie Lou was a devoted wife and mother. In 1961 the First Baptist Church of Alameda was started in her home as a mission of Calvary Baptist Church. All her life she was a dedicated Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart. Her church family was always near. Services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Alameda, 8818 2nd St. NW, with Pastors Jim Wilson and R.L. Porter officiating. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Marty Fuentes, Red Robertson, Floyd Smith, Leo Smyth, Roy Cline, and R.L. Armstrong. Honorary Pallbearers will be Carlyle Nix, Joe Brown and Lee Oldfield. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Monday 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund, 1st Baptist Church of Alameda, 8818 2nd St. NW, 87114.
