Obituary for Gilmer

Evelyn A. Gilmer, 83, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September 2, 1998. She had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1930. She was born December 21, 1914 in Judsonia, AK to Walter and Elsie Gray. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orvis; son, Richard Gilmer; and two granddaughters, Bonnie Gilmer and Karrie Hoffman. She is survived by her brother, Gene Gray and wife, Betty of Santa Fe, NM; her daughter, Carolyn Ogle and husband, Garry, Albuquerque; daughter-in-law, Wanda Gilmer, Boulder, CO; three grandchildren, Jim Geddes and wife, Michelle, Tim Gilmer, and Kathleen Cristiani, husband, David; grandson-in-law, Curt Hoffman and great-grandson, Kyle Gilmer; her brother-in-law, Frank Gilmer, Albuquerque; and several nieces and nephews. She was a longtime member of Garfield Gospel Chapel, but in recent years was attending Calvary Chapel with her daughter, Carolyn. She took over the management of Gray's Flower Shop which was started by her parents. She was a very outgoing and loving person and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be Friday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Fitzgerald's Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers will be family members, Jim Geddes, Curt Hoffman, Tim Gilmer, Tom Gray, Don Gray and Frank Gilmer. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Smaritan Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
