Obituary for Erker

Josef Erker, 75, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 19 years, and coming to New Mexico from Brooklyn, New York, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 1998. Josef was born February 6, 1923, the son of Aloise and Elisabeth Jaklistch Erker in Yugoslavia. He was married to Laura Mader on November 7, 1953 in New York. Josef was a cabinet maker for the Hinzman and Waldman company in New York before retiring. He loved to work in the garden and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Josef is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Laura of Rio Rancho; six children, Denise Erker and husband, Ferreia of New York, Clara Trimboli and husband, Donald of Rio Rancho, Janet Farrell of California, Roger Erker and wife, Doreen of Los Lunas, Robin Luttrull and husband, Jerry of California, and Irene Erker Roybal and husband, Matthew of San Diego, CA; one brother, Siegfried Erker and wife, Josephine of New York; one sister, Herta Eisenpofz and husband, Henry of New York; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, and very special friends, the Riaza family. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 5, 1998, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with the Rev. Guy Roberts as the Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation New Mexico Chapter, 124 Alvarado Dr. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, or to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 714 4th SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
