Obituary for Hass

Robert W. Hass, 61, died Monday, May 18, 1998 at his home in Houston, TX. He is survived by his wife, Helen Hass of Houston; two sons, Frank K. Hass of Albuquerque, NM, Marvin C. Hass of Houston; one stepson, Jeffery Sporkin of Houston; one daughter, Teresa G. Hass of San Antonio, TX; and one step-daughter, Allissa Sporkin of Austin, TX; father, Marvin Hass of Clovis, NM; three brothers, Don F. Hass of Arlington, TX, James E. Hass of Clayton, NM and Phillip D. Hass of Dalhart; three sisters, Betty Perry of Durango, CO, Barbara Barraza of Arlington, VA and Sara Kelly of Dalhart; six grandchildren and one step-grandchild. Robert was born in Clovis, NM on October 5, 1936 to Marvin S. Hass and Lucille (Hutchins) Hass. He was a 1954 graduate of Clovis High School and Graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1958 with a degree in Mathematics and Education. Robert moved to Las Cruces, NM where he began working at White Sands Missile Range. He moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1967 and to Houston in 1976. In 1991 Mr. Hass retired from IBM after over 30 years as a systems analyst. He and Helen Sporkin were married October 10, 1987 in Lubbock, TX. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 1998 at the Hass Funeral Home Chapel in Dalhart, TX with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hass Funeral Home. Ray M. Guy, Minister, First Christian Church, will be officiating. Family will be at 702 E. 7th in Dalhart. Memorials: Salvation Army.
