Mrs. Maria B. Leathers, 67, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on May 19, 1998. Mrs. Leathers is survived by her one daughter, Gayle Phillips and husband, Frederick; three sons, Michael Leathers and wife, Karan, Roger Leathers and wife, Kim, and Leon Leathers and fiancee, Sherry; four sisters, Juanita Leathers and husband, David, Erma Martinez and husband, Popo, Chea Maes and husband, Gabe, and Marge Sanchez; three brothers, Navarez Gutierrez and wife, Linda, Ignacio Gutierrez and wife, Ruth, and Selso Gutierrez; seven grandchildren, Missy, Jessie, Toby, Ashley, Damien, Carl, and Jody; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley C. Leathers, 1968. Mrs. Leathers was a member of San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church for over 30 years. A memorial Rosary will be recited Thursday evening, 7:00 p.m., at San Felipe Church, 2005 Plaza NW, with Deacon Bob Lewis reciting. The family will be receiving family and friends after 6:30 p.m. at the church. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday morning, 10:00 a.m., at St. Felipe Church, with Father Lambert Luna, Celebrant. The family will be receiving family and friends after 9:30 a.m. Interment of the cremains will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations and contributions to the American Cancer Society.
