Obituary for Serrano

Medardo"George" Serrano, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1968, died Tuesday, November 17, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Mary Serrano of Albuquerque; daughter, Linda Romero of Colorado Springs, CO; sons, Arnold Serrano of Colorado Springs, CO and Lee Serrano of Seattle, WA; and six stepchildren. George is also survived by numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Madrid; brother, Anselmo"Al" Serrano and wife, Sadie, all of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Relva Serrano of Vernal, UT; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leandro and Eva Serrano of Youngsville, NM; and brother, Bill Serrano of Vernal, UT. George was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. He was a rancher and cattleman in Northern New Mexico as well. George will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Road NW, with Charles Aguilar reciting. Mass will be celebrated, Friday, 1:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Father Richard Olona, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bernardo Serrano, Eddie Salazar, Robert Max Sellars, Lee J. Madrid, Timothy Madrid, Robert Sandoval, Dubie Lopez, and Joey Lopez. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
