Abel Anaya, Sr. AUGUST 7, 1910 - OCTOBER 22, 1998 Mr. Abel Anaya, Sr., 88, passed away Thursday. He was born in Tajique, New Mexico and was a resident of Albuquerque. Mr. Anaya is survived by his wife of 67 years, Juanita; son, Laco Anaya, Sr. and his wife, Priscilla, Ben Anaya and his wife, Emily, Abel Anaya, Jr. and his wife, Alice, Sam Anaya and his wife, Carol of Los Lunas, Carmel and his wife, Carmela, Nario and his wife, Rosalie; daughters, Lita Cruz, Bea Varela and her husband, Eddie; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, at the Chapel of Riverside Funeral Care Center in Los Lunas. A Rosary will be recited at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Albuquerque on Sunday at 7:00 p.m., and a Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Estancia. Interment will follow at the Estancia Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. David Hauffuman and the 8th Floor Nursing Staff of Lovelace Hospital for the care and kindness given at this most difficult time.
