Obituary for Thurber

Emerson G. Thurber, 78, passed away Thursday, September 17, 1998. Born in Montague, Mass. on September 5, 1920, the son of Gilbert and Bertha (Luescher) Thurber. He graduate from Greenfield Trade School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII, receiving an honorable discharge. He moved to Albuquerque in the late 50s, working as a machinist. His interests included music, woodworking, shooting, and ham radio. For many years he ran phone patches for the Armed Forces in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Jane, now living in Phoenix, AZ; four sons, James of Turnersfalls, Mass., Leslie of La Grande, Oregon, Larry of Bernardston, Mass., and Robert of Athol, Mass.; two brothers, Norton and Walter of Flagstaff, AZ; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as numerous friends. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, following cremation.
