Obituary for Ethelbah

Josephine Naranjo Ethelbah, 90, a resident of Santa Clara Pueblo, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 1998. She was born on February 13, 1908 in Santa Clara Pueblo. Her parents were Desedario and Rebecca Naranjo. In 1929, she began her career as a registered nurse in Santa Fe. She was an avid fisherman, holding the record for one of the largest fish ever caught at Santa Clara Canyon; a rainbow trout 27 inches long and weighing over 6 1/2 pounds. Mrs. Ethelbah was preceded in death by a son, Retired Master Sergeant Carl Ethelbah on June 17, 1998; a grandson, Charles Robinson on July 26, 1978. She is survived by her two beloved children, Anita Ethelbah Eicke and Upton Ethelbah Jr.; her grandchildren, Adrian and Peggy Jo Ethelbah, Robert Robinson, Laurie Jo Pierce, Upton Ethelbah and Lucas Ethelbah; and a great-grandchild, Rachel Pierce. Funeral services were held at 9:00 a.m., Friday, September 18, 1998 at the Santa Clara Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Santa Clara Pueblo Cemetery. Assisting the family as pallbearers were Upton Ethelbah III, Lucas Ethelbah, Tim Pierce, Mike Killman, Jonathon Naranjo and Jerry Vermillion. Named as honorary pallbearers were Albert Naranjo, Darrell Eicke, Bill Vermillion, Charles Dailey, Bob Kettle, Joseph Abeyta Sr., Larry Naranjo, Ray Naranjo.
