Obituary for Tafoya

Herman O. Tafoya Sr., 76, a Bataan Death March survivor, member of the 200th Coast Artillery, lifelong resident of Albuquerque, and a notable APS & UNM educator for over 30 years, died Wednesday, May 27, 1998. He is survived by his sons, Herman O. Tafoya Jr., Brian E. Tafoya and wife, Nancy B., and Norman R. Tafoya and wife, Dr. Anne T., all of Albuquerque; daughters, Sharon T. Burner and husband, Dr. William L. Burner III of Vienna, VA, Juliette T. Leverette and husband, Lt. Col. Gary L. Leverette, U.S.A.F., of Albuquerque, and Susan T. Sullivan and husband, Christopher Sullivan of Japan; 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence Tafoya of Fremont, CA, Richard Tafoya, and Fred Tafoya both of Albuquerque; one sister, Julia Hendren of Albuquerque. Mr. Tafoya was preceded in death by his wife, Edna in April 1995; and by three brothers, Henry, Joe"Morey", and Alfonso. A Memorial Service will be held at French Mortuary, University Blvd Chapel, 1111 University Blvd NE at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24th. Burial will follow the service at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd, NE.
