Ellen Harrison Kaufman, 54, passed away on July 14, 1998 in Gallup, NM, after a long battle with cancer. The part of her who was Hannah went with her. She was a graduate of New Rochelle (NY) High School and held the following degrees: BFA Tyler School of Art, Phila., PA, MA in English Literature (West Chester University, West Chester PA) & former student at the University of the Arts, and Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA. Born in New York City, she was married to Simon Goldman in 1964 until his death in 1967. She married Jerold Kaufman in 1969. Her activities always included numerous community service commitments. Most recently, she hosted a classical music radio program in Gallup and served on the public radio station Board. Hers was a life of passion, growth, nurturing and deep commitment to her roles as wife, mother, homemaker and talented artist. Her creativity and depth gave her passion for art, classical music and opera and literature. All she did she did with energy and commitment. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Jerold; and her children, Christopher, his loving wife, Carolyn and daughter, Zoe (Hong Kong), Seth (Hartford, CT) and Hillary (Ft. Collins, CO); parents, Mina and Samuel Harrison (Albuquerque); and sister, Myrna Changar (NYC). Those of you who wish to remember her in your hearts need only look at the Pole Star to find a contact.
