Obituary for Spinks

Delphus Malvin Spinks died Thursday, March 26, 1998, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; daughter, Susan Lechner and husband, Michael of San Jose, CA; son, Michael Spinks and Maryann Wasiolek; step-son, John Miner and wife, Nadine; step-daughter, Meredith Miner and husband, Phillip White of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Brian Lechner of Irvin, CA, Kate Lechner of Willow Glen, CA, and Corey Miner. After learning Morse Code in the CCC's, he joined the Army Air Corps during World War II and served with the Flying Tigers in China. He retired from the FAA after a 30-year career as an air traffic controller. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 29, 1998 at 1:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to the Special Olympics.
